We are a landscaping and groundworks contractor based in Cartmel, working throughout the South Lakes — Grange-over-Sands, Ulverston, Windermere, Kendal, Ambleside and everywhere between.
We are based in Cartmel and we have been doing this since 2007. This is where the business started and where we know the ground — and ground is the point. Nobody who has dug a footing in South Lakeland clay, or tried to get a machine down a Cartmel lane, prices a job the same way as someone who has not.
We take on domestic gardens and commercial site work alike. That means one outfit responsible for the drainage, the levels, the hard landscaping and the planting — instead of three trades pointing at each other when something does not line up.

We come and look
A proper site visit, not a guess over the phone. We check access for machinery, ground conditions and levels — the three things that decide what a job really costs.
Fixed written quote
Itemised, in writing, with materials specified. You will know what the sub-base is and how deep it goes before anyone turns a sod.
We build it
Our own plant and our own operators. Site kept tidy, neighbours considered, and you get told if anything under the ground changes the plan.
Signed off clean
Muck away, site swept, and we walk it with you. Aftercare advice for planting and surfaces, and we pick up the phone afterwards.

We dig trial holes first
On anything substantial we find out what is actually under the turf before quoting. That is where other people’s “unforeseen extras” come from.
Fully insured, RAMS supplied
Public liability cover, and risk assessments and method statements sent over before we arrive rather than chased afterwards.
Our own plant and operators
We are not waiting on a hire company, so we can commit to a programme and hold to it — and that shows up in the price.
Heritage work taken seriously
We rebuilt the Grade II* registered Dutch Garden at Graythwaite Hall to Thomas Mawson’s original design. Sympathetic work is something we actually do.
We will tell you no
If your budget will not stretch to doing a job properly, we would rather say so and suggest doing half of it well than build something that fails in three winters.

Where we work
We are based in Cartmel, and our patch runs roughly forty minutes in every direction. Grange-over-Sands and Ulverston are on the doorstep; Windermere, Ambleside, Kendal and Milnthorpe are a comfortable run.
Working close to home means we can get to a site visit quickly and come back if something needs another look. We travel further for larger groundworks contracts — if you are not on the list, ring and ask.
Common questions
Do you charge for quotes?
No. We come out, look at the site properly and give you a fixed written quote free of charge, anywhere in the South Lakes.
How far do you travel?
Our core patch is roughly 40 minutes from Kendal — that covers Windermere, Ambleside, Grange-over-Sands, Ulverston, Kirkby Lonsdale and everything between. We will travel further for larger groundworks contracts.
Are you insured?
Yes, fully insured for both commercial and private work. We provide RAMS documentation, risk assessments and method statements as standard on commercial sites.
Can you get machinery into a small garden?
Usually, yes. We run compact machines that fit through a standard side gate, and we assess access on the site visit before quoting. If it genuinely will not fit, we will tell you that up front rather than discover it on day one.
