Areas we cover across the South Lakes

We are based in the South Lakes and we work in it — not a national franchise with a local phone number. Our core patch is roughly forty minutes from Kendal, which takes in most of South Lakeland and the southern half of the Lake District National Park.

That radius is deliberate. Working close to home means we can get to a site visit quickly, come back if something needs looking at, and keep travel out of your quote. For larger groundworks contracts we will travel further — if you are outside the list below, ring and ask rather than assuming.

A note on planning across the area

Most of this area is covered by Westmorland and Furness Council, which took over from South Lakeland District Council in 2023. Where a property sits inside the Lake District National Park, planning is handled by the Lake District National Park Authority instead, and permitted development rights are more restricted than elsewhere in England. Sedbergh and the eastern fringe fall within the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

We are landscapers, not planning consultants — but after this many years working across those boundaries we generally know when a job is likely to need consent, and we will say so before you spend money finding out the hard way.

How we cover the ground

We run our own plant and transport it ourselves, so getting a machine to a site in the valleys is routine rather than a logistical problem. Narrow lanes, farm tracks and tight domestic access are normal here and we plan for them — including choosing a smaller machine and more days where a bigger one simply will not get in.
