Cartmel is a small medieval village built around its priory, with a conservation area, a great many listed buildings and lanes that were never intended for anything wider than a cart. Working here is an exercise in doing things carefully and quietly.
Access is the whole job
The village centre is genuinely tight. Getting plant and materials in often means small machines, careful timing and sometimes hand-balling material the last stretch. We would far rather price that realistically at the outset than start a job and discover the wagon cannot get past the square.
